The type of bedding you use is important. I wouldn't recommend using fluffy bedding because your hamsters' limbs can be tangled or wrapped up in it causing the circulation to be cut off. Also, if swallowed, it can block their stomache. Don't use cedar wood. Though they may say it's ok, it's not! It will make your hamster sick (It releases large amounts of phenol fumes which are related to liver damage). The best wood to use is aspen or pine (which is what I use). Never use newspaper or paper with ink. Ink can be very harmful to you hamster. However there is bedding made from recycled paper which is OK. Though many manufacturers try to tell you their products are safe, don't believe a lable. Your hamster's life is much more important than how cheap the bedding is.
